What "best" actually means here

Copy trading mirrors another trader's positions in your account, scaled to what you allocate. You keep custody of the money, and you can stop at any time. That's the mechanic, and it's genuinely useful — mostly as a way to watch real positions and real drawdowns rather than curated screenshots.

What it isn't is a way to outsource judgement. Picking who to copy, deciding how much to allocate and knowing when to stop is the actual job, and nobody does it for you. Copied traders have losing months, and their drawdown becomes yours in real time.

What we weigh

  • Track records that are long enough to mean something — a year or more, through different market conditions
  • Visible maximum drawdown, not just headline return
  • Transparent fee structure, since performance fees and profit shares vary widely
  • Platform risk controls, so you can cap a copy relationship before it runs away

Check these yourself before depositing

  • Read the drawdown figure first and ask whether you could hold through it with real money.
  • Ignore follower counts — they measure last month's leaderboard, not skill.
  • Copy on a demo for a few weeks first, including at least one losing stretch.

The trade-off nobody advertises

The best-known copy platforms usually aren't the cheapest to trade on, and spreads there tend to be wider. You're paying for the social layer and the vetting tools — worth it if you actually use them, wasted if you were going to trade manually anyway.
