Forex/CFDs are leveraged products. Most retail accounts lose money.

India is the one market on this site where the honest answer starts with a warning rather than a ranking. Domestic equity, F&O and currency trading sits with SEBI-registered brokers. Offshore forex and CFD trading is a different question entirely: RBI and SEBI have repeatedly said retail residents may not remit money abroad to trade leveraged forex, and several well-known international brands sit on the RBI's alert list. This page lists the international brokers that still accept Indian clients — it is not a statement that doing so is permitted for you, and it is not legal advice.

SEBI, RBI and offshore forex: what the rules actually say

The Liberalised Remittance Scheme lets residents send money abroad for a defined list of purposes. Margin trading in leveraged forex is not on that list. RBI publishes an Alert List of unauthorised electronic trading platforms, and SEBI has acted against offshore brands soliciting Indian residents. That means two separate things can be true at once: a broker can be genuinely well-regulated in Cyprus or the UK, and still be a platform you are not permitted to remit funds to from India. Anyone telling you it is 'grey area, everyone does it' is not the person who pays your penalty. Check the current RBI Alert List and your own position before you send money anywhere.

Why this list is short

Only two of the brokers in our catalogue accept Indian clients, and that is deliberate rather than a data gap. Octa was dropped after the RBI alert listing, ED asset freezes and a five-year SEBI registration ban. Capital.com excludes India on its own affiliate list. XM appears here because it accepts Indian clients, but it is on the RBI alert list — we would rather say that plainly than pad the page to ten entries. A short list is a more useful signal than a long one.

If you want Indian equity, F&O or intraday instead

A lot of people arrive here searching for brokerage calculators, delivery and intraday charges, DP charges or the cheapest broker for F&O. That is the SEBI-registered discount-broker market — Zerodha, Groww, Angel One, Dhan, Upstox and similar — and it is a genuinely different product from anything on this page. We do not rank Indian equity brokers and our calculators are built around forex and CFD position sizing, not exchange transaction charges and STT. If that is what you came for, a SEBI-registered broker's own charge sheet will serve you better than any comparison site.

Leverage advertising is the fastest way to lose the account

Searches like 'which broker gives highest leverage in india' are the single most reliable predictor of a blown account. Leverage does not increase your edge; it shortens the time until a normal losing streak reaches zero. If you are going to practise anything on a demo, practise sizing a position from the cash you can afford to lose rather than from the leverage cap on the banner.

How we ranked the brokers above

Availability for Indian clients first, then regulation quality, withdrawal reputation, demo quality and all-in cost. Rankings are editorial, not paid placement. Alert-list status is disclosed rather than hidden. Figures change — confirm on the broker's site, and confirm your own legal position before funding anything.

Trading in India: quick answers

Which broker is best for trading in India?
For Indian equity, F&O and intraday, use a SEBI-registered broker — that market is not what this page covers. For international forex and CFDs, the short list above is the brokers that accept Indian clients, and at least one of them is on the RBI Alert List. Read the regulation section before you treat either list as a recommendation.
Is forex trading legal in India?
Currency derivatives on Indian exchanges through a SEBI-registered broker are legal. Remitting money to an offshore platform to trade leveraged forex on margin is not a permitted purpose under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme, and RBI maintains an alert list of unauthorised platforms. Check the current guidance yourself — this page is not legal clearance.
Which broker gives the highest leverage in India?
This is the wrong question and we are not going to optimise a page for it. High leverage does not improve your odds; it compresses the time until a normal drawdown wipes the account. Ask instead what the all-in cost is and whether you are permitted to fund the account at all.
Can I start with a demo account?
Yes, and a demo is the one thing you can do without a remittance question hanging over it. Both listed brokers offer free demos with virtual money at live prices. Learn the platform there, and resolve the legal and cost questions before any real deposit.
Do you rank Zerodha, Groww or Angel One?
No. Those are SEBI-registered domestic brokers for equity, F&O and mutual funds, and comparing them to offshore CFD brands would be misleading. Our calculators are built for forex and CFD position sizing, not for STT, DP charges and exchange transaction fees.
